Four leaf clover found on imapled mans back after he was rescued by Air Ambulance

Date: 24-Jun-2010

Raymond Curry, 20, was on his way to work when his car overturned and rolled through a fence into a field.

He was flown to hospital by Air Ambulance still impaled by the piece of wood, which by chance had missed all his vital organs.

The Air Ambulance took him to Newcastle General Hospital.

Once there, staff found a four leaf clover stuck to Mr Curry's back and a little tree air freshener inside his body!

After surgery to remove the wooden post through his chest, Mr Curry was presented with the four leaf clover which now has pride of place on his bedroom wall!

Mr Curry praised the Great North Air Ambulance for saving his life, saying: "It was amazing how reassuring and professional they were."

"Without the Air Ambulance doctors might not have had time to give me all the  scans I needed, they helped save my life and I won't ever be able to thank them enough."
