Air ambulance fund raiser in line for ‘most deserving’ honour

Caroline Rutley-Frayne, who lost two limbs in an accident, is in the frame to be named the most deserving local hero in the country for her fund raising work on behalf of an air ambulance trust.

Caroline, who is from the South West of England, will be competing with 10 other finalists in a competition in a bid to name the country’s most deserving fund raiser or carer.

After suffering from her motorbike accident in 2008, she was forced to undergo surgery which saved her life. Unfortunately, her husband was killed from the same accident.

After having both her arm and leg amputated, she still takes care of her child with help from her older daughter as well as from a local hospital.

She has raised funds for an air ambulance trust, for which she gives her full support.

The winner of the competition will be awarded with £10,000 to go towards a brand new car as well as £2,500 to donate to their favourite charity.

The commercial director for the website, Phil Jones, has clearly been touched by what he has heard from the applicants.

“When we launched the competition to find a local hero we expected to hear about some special people. However, some of the stories we received were truly humbling and we’ve been overwhelmed by the kindness and dedication shown by the nominees. Our judging panel were able to pick a selection of fundraisers, charity workers, carers and campaigners. They all have interesting and inspiring stories, have nominated amazing charities and all have great ideas of how upgrading their car would help their community work.”
