European Air Ambulance Service From Spain to UK

Air Ambulance Services

Filed under: — Posted by: admin on February 6, 2012

As the leading provider of chartered air ambulance services in Europe, we at IAS Medical provide round-the-clock assistance to anyone requiring medical repatriation – not just to the UK, but anywhere in the world.

Private chartered air ambulance services are used by insurance companies, health institutions (including both NHS and private hospitals); embassies; the foreign office; large companies, governments and the MOD, as well as private individuals travelling without health insurance. However, the level of service differs between companies. At IAS Medical, we offer a round-the-clock service 365 days a year, with a medical coordinator to arrange every aspect of the repatriation, from retrieval and translation of medical notes (from both the discharge hospital and the patient’s GP), to admission at the receiving hospital. From our base in the UK, our experienced multilingual team can track every part of the repatriation process, keeping the patient, their GP and their family informed of what’s happening at every stage.

When someone is taken ill or injured abroad, their travel insurance company will generally arrange treatment at the place they are staying, including hospital treatment if necessary. However, not all policies cover medical repatriation. We at IAS Medical provide a bed-to-bed repatriation service to both insured and uninsured patients, either in a dedicated air ambulance or, if their condition warrants it, a stretcher on a commercial airliner. On the ground, we have fully equipped and certified ground ambulances and paramedics to convey patients to and from the aircraft and hospitals. We also offer trained medical escorts for uninsured patients who are well enough to fly normally.

Our air ambulances are fully equipped to deal with every medical situation. Crewed by aero qualified doctors and nurses, they include intensive care Lear Jets for international flights. As a supplier of air ambulance services for the NHS, we are approved to transport transplant patients, surgical teams, organs and tissues. We also offer multiple casualty repatriation for the MOD, as well as aero medical training to CAA standards.
