Air Ambulance Trust to benefit from greater support

Filed under: Air Ambulance Trust — Posted by: Mark on December 24, 2011

The UK’s Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Trust will benefit from greater support than ever before, as the structure of the county board is to be changed to provide better focus at a more regional level.

The news was announced at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting this year (2011), where the charity’s trustee board’s chairman confirmed the details.

There will now be a separate board for each region that the charity covers. It is hoped each will therefore be able to give far more effective support to its area. They will have the ability to make their own decisions, as well as being able to influence events affecting the air ambulances in that area far more effectively.

Chairman Tony Monteuuis said: “…these boards (will) be the face of the charity at a more local level and we look forward to working with them.”

Each board will also be expected to feed back to the main trustee board, which will retain overall guidance. Hoped to provide greater coherency of the charity in each region and collectively, key ambassadors will be selected from each region.

The news has been welcomed by all involved and with many of the regional board members made up of local business people with key specialities, resourcing and planning look set to be greatly improved.

The counties of Kent, Surrey and Sussex are some of the most populous areas of the UK. With major motorways and transport infrastructure crisscrossing them and being the destination for many outdoor activities, air ambulances in this region provide an essential life-saving service.
