Coast-to-Coast Cycle Challenge for Charity

Filed under: Charity Events — Posted by: Richard on January 25, 2012

This year’s coast-to-coast cycle challenge to raise funds for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance has been arranged for Sunday 20th May, 2012.

The cycle challenge is not a race, so participants can enjoy some wonderful scenery as they cycle along quiet roads, up some demanding hill climbs, followed bysome hair-raising descents along the route.

Participants can choose from two quite different routes. Those who want a challenge can opt for the 54 miles route that begins in Watchet on the Somerset coast and ends in West Bay, on the Dorset coast near Bridport. Those who do not fancy such a lengthy challenge can choose the much shorter 11 mile route that starts at Drimpton on the Dorset coast and also ends at West Bay.

Sponsorship and other fundraising events raise a significant amount of money for the air ambulance charity. It is anticipated that participants will, once again, encourage members of their family, friends and work colleagues to sponsor them so that last year’s amazing sum of £33,000 will be exceeded.

All the money raised from this event and similar ones goes toward the high running cost of an air ambulance in the UK and the charity can only continue to operate their air ambulance with the support received from the public at these events.
