Ex France international injured in skiing accident

Ex-Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur Premiership football star David Ginola has been seriously injured in a skiing accident.

The proficient skier came a cropper whilst on a trip to the slopes on the French Alps. It is being reported that the BBC Sports commentator suffered five broken ribs and badly damaged his collarbone.

The incident occurred as the light was fading, and the slopes were being prepared for shutting down for the evening. In the poor visibility, Mr Ginola is supposed to have lost control of his skis and fallen badly, in what many have described as simply a freak accident.

It is also thought that the ex-France international collided with another skier on the slopes , and may have been knocked out in the accident, though this has not been confirmed,

Emergency medical attention was on the scene quickly. Having been assessed and placed on a stretcher, Mr Ginola was rushed to a local hospital by air ambulance. It is understood that he had to have his neck in a brace throughout the flight, which the ex L’Oreal model will hope didn’t mess up his flowing locks.

He was released from hospital after an overnight stay, and is said to be recovering well. A spokesman said that he was feeling very sore, and the extent of the damage may still need further assessment, but it is thought he is still in good spirits.

He is upset that he has had to cancel some of his public engagements though, which includes a “snow-golf” tournament in the resort of Megeve, which he is said to have been looking forward to.
