Local air ambulance funds frozen

A novel item went up for sale last week, as the UK was gripped by plunging temperatures, freezing rain, black ice and drifting snow. In keeping with the season, a snowman was listed on eBay, to help raise funds for the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA).

Dubbed ‘Frostie’ by its creator, Peter Rawlings, the snowman was finally sold for £102 on the popular auction website.

The name of the winning bidder has not yet been disclosed, but it is hoped that they read the listing carefully. It clearly stated that it, “may come in liquid form” and requested that the winner collect in person and that they “bring a bucket.”.

The sale is likely to be something of a wrench for the 26-year-old. Speaking about the listing earlier in the week, Peter said:

“He’s been with me for 20 odd years … but he wants to see a bit further … what we want to do is find him a good home and get some money for charity.”

Frostie has been taking up home in Stowupland in Suffolk for the past two decades, but should soon be moving onto his new home.

Speaking about the sale, a spokesman for the EAAA said that they were thrilled with how much had been raised by the innovative idea, and expressed surprise with just how imaginative supporters can be.

It is being so imaginative that UK air ambulance charities and their fundraisers have to rely on.
