Run rabbit run – Fundraisers help save lives

Filed under: Air Ambulance Costs and Fundraising — Posted by: Mark on March 3, 2012

Wargrave will see its very first Rabbit Run Fun Run with fundraisers dressed in bow ties, tails and ears. The event will raise money for an air ambulance service as well as St John Ambulance.

There will be two jogs to cater for both those who opt to jog at a leisurely pace as well as those who prefer more of a challenge. Piggott School will be the venue for both jogs.

The event organisers are hopeful that there will be over 100 joggers on the day.

With advanced registration and sponsorship funds collected, there will be a £5 entrance fee for the one-mile jog and £10 for the 3-mile event.

Bunny accessories will be handed out to 50 initial participants but it is hoped that everyone will be dressed in line with the spirit of the day.

The most well-dressed jogger will be awarded with a visit to the base of the air ambulance they will be raising money for on the day.

The event will take place on Saturday 14th April at 11am.

A St John Ambulance fund raiser, Kim Adrian, is clearly placing an emphasis on the fun side of the race, but with one eye firmly on the cause:

“We are looking forward to the Run Rabbit Run capturing the imagination and sense of fun of all those people, runners and non-runners, for whom the Reading Half Marathon was just too far and a bit too serious. We hope this will be an exciting family occasion and that as well as having a great time people will be able to drum up plenty of sponsorship for two life-saving charities.”
