Singer Mica helps raise funds for Air Ambulance Service

The London Air Ambulance is to benefit from two donations from singer Mica. Members of Mica’s fan club have already held an auction and are now organising a raffle to raise funds for this life-saving charity, and Mica has generously donated to both fund raising events.

Two tickets with return flights from their country of residence to one of his concerts anywhere in the world with accommodation included is the raffle prize for one lucky person. A spokesperson said that for each £10 donated, the person would receive a raffle ticket by email.

A statement on Mica’s website said he was making the donation to celebrate the fifth anniversary of his fan club and to show his gratitude to the air ambulance service for saving his sister’s life.

In October 2010, Mika’s sister, Paloma Penniman, fell onto metal railings from a window at her home. She needed to be cut free after being impaled on some spikes, one of which had penetrated her abdomen. The crew of the London air ambulance services attended the scene and then flew her to hospital for emergency treatment.

This is the second time in the past month that Mika has helped raise money for the air ambulance. Recently Mika gave a pair of his Converse sneakers, which he had personalised, to his fan club for them to sell in a memorabilia auction. The last auction ended on Saturday 7th January and raised a remarkable £1,750 which the fan club has pledged to the air ambulance service.
