Toddler’s family pay homage to air ambulance team

An air ambulance team who saved a toddler from a 20 foot fall invited him and his family to meet the team personally and the young boy was only too happy to oblige.

Freddie was accompanied by dad Simon, mum Andrea, brother Eden, sisters Maisie and Minnie, grandparents, aunties and uncles, and cousins, when meeting with the crew who rescued the toddler from his home in Bradworthy.

Three year old Freddie Downing suffered a fractured skull and was forced to undergo emergency surgery.

Andrea said the air ambulance team acted quickly to transport him to the hospital which ultimately saved her child’s life. She is clearly grateful and is doing everything she can to show them her support, telling the papers:

“It was a brilliant day enabling Fred and the family to meet again with the wonderful crew. Those folks are amazing and it was fantastic to go back and say a huge thank you. You never think it will be you, but the air ambulance is so essential and saved Freddo’s life. Following various messages from my friends and family I set up a Justgiving page on the internet. Everyone wanted to do something after the accident to help and I am amazed at the generosity of people in donating. We have received donations from as far away as Dubai.”

The family raised over £160 at an event they hosted called Engineering Works where they took £1 donations, allowing children to be involved in the construction of a train track. The proceeds will be shared between various charities including the hospital where Freddie was treated.
