Injured firefighter taken to hospital by Air Ambulance

Date: 06-Jul-2010

The firefighter sustained a broken leg as the burning building collapsed on top of him.

Around 35 staff from Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue were called to the course after a green keeper's shed caught alight.

The building contained a number of chemicals and pesticides, meaning three specialist chemical incident vehicles and two fire service experts were dispatched, along with four fire appliances and police, ambulance and utility workers.

The firefighter was attended to by the Scottish ambulance Service before being taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by Air Ambulance.
