Church goers raise money for Air Ambulance

Date: 02-Feb-2011

The collision threw the man's car into the air and left it resting on its side in a ditch.

Now residents in nearby Walkington have raised £500 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance after hearing about the rescue.

The 36 year old man was still conscious after the accident, but suffered a broken back, leg and a badly damaged toe.

His children who were strapped in the back aged 3 and 1 remained uninjured

A witnesses called the emergency services then two Yorkshire Air Ambulance helicopters, from Leeds Bradford and Sheffield, dispatched and worked to get the family out through the boot of the car.

They were then flown to Hull Royal Infirmary.

The man is now said to be making an excellent recovery.
